As the party come to a brief halt, you find yourself thinking about the past; memories coming unbidden of all the things you've achieved and experienced, all the deaths. You find yourself laughing quietly as you remember the practical jokes you played on Prospera. You close your eyes, enjoying the memories, listening to yourself laugh. Listening as your laugh changes from a happy one to one with a more nervous hint. You open your eyes and look across at Guard Overcaptain Zayn and Warden Lieutenant Gray behind him. Gray is there to make sure you don't lie, to ensure Zayn gets the information he wants. "Captain Lomax, I've seen plenty like you," he says. "Hotshots promoted through the ranks without any real leadership ability." He stalks around the desk at which you are seated, "Don't think I believe you worked way up from a Guard on merit, I know your type. And you see Captain, I'm not the only one who feels this way; there are a few of us who question your loyalties and have questions about your past." Gray is impassive in the corner, contrasting the clear rising anger of Zayn. It's clear Zayn has it in for you, though you can't yet work out why. Smiling you try and remain calm; you don't plan on letting them find out any more than they already know. "So, Captain Lomax." The venom as he pronounces your name is clearly noticeable, as acknowledged by a look of concern from the Marshal in the corner. "First you will tell us about that infamous unholy word, then you will tell us about the Silver Mines, then about how exactly you survived the Nykrull attack on the Avante Garde Command, and lastly exactly what you did to Headman Bob on that final mission into Upper Bogglehampton." Slamming a file down on the table he continues, "We will ask, and ask until we have the answers we want. All of them. Marshal Gray will ensure that. Then we can get onto the matter of your court martial, Captain, one I can guarantee you will be attending." He laughs victoriously as you skim through the file, realising that everything you'd tried to hide is here - even a statement from Dan-Su about your approaching him to sell silver. Right now you see no way out; maybe if you could think clearly, but his laughter is grating. You close your eyes trying to concentrate, hearing it fade away, until it's only the voices of the party you hear.
